Yet Again its been a year!

I had all the best of intentions of doing a blog every couple of days when I last wrote, but then time got away with me yet again.  Now I will have to set my sites a little lower to take the pressure off.  My crafty friends tell me that once you get into the swing of it its just comes second nature--- so we'll see.

So I'm sure you're wondering what I've been up to this last year to avoid bloggin altogether, well here it is in a nutshell:

I've been the usual wife/mom to my family

(wanted to insert a photo here but after 3 attempts I gave up)

doing the usual sports runs and clubs runs in the evenings,

I've also joined the committee at the Norfolk Craft Guild its very nice to be involved with such a great group and this year is the 60th anniversary, if you have a chance to visit the exhibition at Blickling Hall you should as its a great chance to see quality craftsmanship at its best. No admission for the gallery just for the actual hall itself -and do be honest its worth going just for a cuppa and a cake as the cafe is amazing!

At Christmas I was lucky enough to be involved with a couple of great exhibitions and craft fairs, one being Blackthorpe Barn it is always a great atmosphere and worth visiting at Christmas time.

I've also done alot of things with Dead Good Designsand if I can manage to keep blogging I will keep you updated on what we have planned for the rest of the year, its very exciting stuff.

I've made a few bespoke made to order pieces which you'll have to check out on my facebook page as unfortunately I cannot seem to add photos to this blogger. :(

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I have to say it wasn't that bad (blogging I mean) I put it off for so long and managed to do a little writing without it causing too much pain...

A new name

If you've been following me on facebook you will know that I have changed my name to Suzanne Lake - made from the heart. the lovely Leanne Woods at folksy made me this and some great

I hope you like it as I am very pleased with it.

I have been very busy with the new logo and designing some new items too. Pictures to follow on another blog.

Some other news: I joined a group called
Dead Good Designs last year in which we all get together once a month to bounce ideas off eachother and mentor eachother with our businesses. We also take the opportunity to go to more expensive craft fairs that we wouldnt be able to do on our own. Our next big one will be at Pensthorpe on the 5th and 6th of June

here is a photo of us at our first fair together. I do hope we can get a better one at the next one
I am really looking forward to setting up our little shop at the fair do drop by and say hello!

can't believe its been a year!

Ok so I had planned on blogging on a regular basis, but I guess i really didn't enjoy it that much....that said, I'm determined to get into this whole blogging thing....

As the year has passed I've read quite a few blogs and really enjoy them. alot of the people that I follow tend to blog every day....don't think I can set myself up to do that, so I will hope to blog once a month.....we'll see how it goes.

At the moment my little buisness is undergoing a NAME CHANGE. I know its really scary, but I figure its a relatively new business so its a good time to do it. My reasons are that with "Handmade from the Heart" it doesn't necsessarily state that IVE made the items. I've had a lot of people ask me at stalls whether I've done them or not, and now I think it will definately be self explanatory. my new name will just simply be

Suzanne Lake
wooden gifts made from the Heart

I do hope I am making the right decision. I am now having a the lovely Leanne at See the Woods design me something....I'm sure it will be great!

Well thats all from me for today. I do hope in the meantime you will pop over to my current Facebook page to have a look at some of my collections.

I've been dragging my heels about setting up a blog since about August last year...I'm not really sure why, but mostly it was because I didn't really think that people would want to read about my day to day antics of how to get in the craft studio or how life seems to stop me for getting in there at all! Also, because I'm not a natural writer....I'm a crafter...I create...not write...so here goes....

I have been reading other peoples blogs and actually find them quite interesting especially the crafty ones, and the blogs of mom's who are trying to set up their own little enterprise. I really love the fact that most of us are in the same boat and have similar goals and all share in eachothers hopes, dreams, and heartaches! The blogs are a bit of support with out being supportive which I think is great!

"Handmade~from the Heart" was born about 6 years ago when I had my first child, I wanted to be able to sell a few things so that I could buy my husbands Christmas present with my own money that I had earned myself. I started out painting precut peices of hearts and stars and things and sold a few on but gave most of them away, which defeated my intenion entirely! Eventually I found that I was limited by the precut peices and wanted to make my own, my father-in-law bought me a scroll saw, and helped me to get started --then I was off!

I now have a little shop in Burnham Market, Norfolk who stocks my boats, and seagulls, hopefully later this year she will take my beach huts as well! I also attend various craft fairs around Norfolk, England, and hope one day that my little shop on Folksy.com will do well.

As this is my first blog, my plans for it are a little unsure but I hope to run a few giveaways and swaps and hope not to bore any of you with any of my daily antics! If there is anything you want to know or see, please contact me I'd love to hear from you!
